In 1976, Robert Larin, the firm's founder, authored the article "The Aggressive Defense in Michigan Drunk Driving Cases" in the Detroit Lawyer. Since then he has been heralded as a leading specialist in the defense of the drinking driver in Michigan. In 1988, he was joined by Edwin Leonard forming the firm Larin and Leonard. In 1998 Daniel Larin joined the firm and together they make up this very specialized law firm dealing exclusively with drunk driving defense and related criminal and traffic issues.
As a firm they have continued to author books and articles related to the defense of the drinking driver. Additionally, all three lawyers lecture extensively in the field of Drunk Driving Defense and related Traffic and License Issues. Annually, all three attorneys of Larin and Leonard lecture for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) on updates and changes in the Drunk Driving and Traffic laws. These lectures are conducted live with audiences of defense attorneys and prosecutors. The lectures are also taped and sent around the state for other lawyers to review and learn. Additionally, the attorneys of Larin and Leonard have lectured to judicial conferences and to police agencies about the Drunk Driving Laws in Michigan. Civic groups have also benefited from the knowledge of the firm in public service lectures given to their group.
